SmoothMouse is an experimental project which aims to give OS X users more control over mouse and trackpad movement. The killer feature is improvement of cursor responsiveness — this hasn't ever been done before in OS X.

We do not use the word “beta”, instead we imply that all the 1.* versions will be a part of a continuous beta-testing process. This means that:
  • First versions of SmoothMouse are not expected to be 100% stable and bug-free. I wrote a blog post explaining why this is so.
  • We expect users to send their feedback, including bug reports and feature suggestions. Your feedback is super-important to us.

* * *

SmoothMouse works on all systems starting from OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).

Before installing SmoothMouse please uninstall all mouse related software, including:
  • Drivers from mouse vendors (such as Logitech Control Center, Microsoft IntelliPoint, Razer drivers etc).
  • 3rd party mouse drivers (such as USB Overdrive, SteerMouse, SideTrack).
  • Fixes of any kind (such as MouseFix, mouse acceleration preference panes etc).
